The site is finally live!
After doing some research and experimenting with different CMS platforms (Weebly, WordPress, Webflow, Blogger, Hubspot, Squarespace…), I have finally decided to go for the Google Blogger CMS platform to build my own website.
The site is finally live!
But it wasn’t so obvious to choose which CMS could be the best fit for my blog… (how simple and easy it may seem to build a website)
Since I bought my domain from Google Domains using the Google Blogger CMS platform (to build my blog) was the obvious step to take. However, I hesitated whether to go for it or not. My initial plan was to build my blog with WordPress since I already have some experience with WordPress.
What held me back from going for that choice was the security part… WordPress websites are popular for being breached every now and then. So, this made me hesitating…
The six principles that guided my decision
I wrote down six principles that I find extremely important when building websites. These are:
cost,
simplicity,
responsiveness,
easy to use (user friendly),
analytics (stats),
and security
Google Blogger CMS platform is free; it’s very simple to understand how it works; it’s responsive (no need to make additional customizations to make it responsive on mobile phones and tablets); it’s super easy to use; it has stats and it’s well secured.
My final verdict
So, after reflecting and agreeing on these principles I finally came up with the conclusion that Google Blogger CMS platform is a good fit for me, at least for now. I’m curious what the future will bring though and how it could change my mind...
